Set in Singapore in Freddy’s Song of Singapore Café in 1941 against the background of the imminent invasion by the Japanese, Rose, a dumb blonde chanteuse who has lost her memory, fronts a band of no hopers and losers who happen to be wonderful musicians. As the invaders get closer and the plots thicken, Rose starts to remember who she is….and then the questions are ‘can she get the band out of Singapore in time and where will they go?’
Issy van Randwyck leads a cast of ten brilliant actor musicians, many of them from the original cast, in this concert style reprise of one of Chichester’s most successful shows. They will take you through the hilarious storyline and wonderfully humorous songs like ‘Never Pay Musicians What They Are Worth’, ‘Harbour of Love’, ‘The Inexpensive Tango’ and ‘We’re Rich’.
“A whole lot of fun” Evening Standard
