Vengeance in the Vestry: Murder Mystery Evening
It is 1941 and England is expecting an invasion by Nazi Germany at any time. The village of Little Marsden in the Vale is situated just a few miles away from the local R.A.F aerodrome where a squadron of Spitfires awaits the imminent arrival of the German bombers on their route towards London.
The local vicar has decided to hold a fundraising get together in the local church to collect a contribution from his parishioners towards the purchase of a new Spitfire.
As the evening goes on and the villagers are enjoying themselves a woman’s scream is heard, there’s been a murder! Who is the victim and who committed the dastardly deed!
Travel back in time to the 1940’s and help us solve the mystery!
Especially written for your entertainment. The evening includes a delicious baked potato supper, a bar and a boozy raffle.
Come dressed in your best 1940’s outfit and maybe you will win the best dressed male or female. Finish the evening by honing your dancing skills to the best of 1940’s music.

Alfie Moore: A face for radio
Somewhere in a parallel universe little Alfie’s natural comedic performance skills were recognised by his doting parents who encouraged and developed his blossoming talent. After several years as a stage school brat Alfie’s angelic face was launched on stage and screen and the rest is history.
Meanwhile, in this universe Alfie Moore was told to stop messing about in class before being ‘encouraged’ into the grinding, grimy world of an apprenticeship in the Sheffield steelworks. When recession hit he traded steel for copper by joining Humberside Police.
Thirty years of shift-work, initially in the Sheffield steelworks and then as a copper on the beat (where he was punched in the face quite a lot), has left him with ‘a face for radio’. A face not so much ‘lived in’ as inhabited by a settlement of squatters with little regard to property maintenance and repair.
In his 40s a surprising career shift turned middle-aged Alfie from street cop to BBC radio star. But when TV fame beckoned could he grasp it or was he past it?
